It was an awful thing to ask of myself. I loved my mother with my whole heart and whole soul, she was my world. When the light changed, and Nate stopped on the curb, he knew he was in trouble. He was so beautiful it stopped my breath in my throat, made my chest ache to see him.
I prayed for many turnings, through three colors. I suddenly had a bad feeling about where this was headed. Her anger was like a scalding wind, biting along my skin where it touched. In some of the photos the quality was so bad that if you hadn't known you were looking at human remains, you'd have never guessed.
